Peak District National Park
Wolfscote Dale, Dovedale, Staffordshire / Derbyshire

Back to Landscape Heritage Card Page

In the Staffordshire and Derbyshire limestone areas, it is the parallel valleys of the Manifold and Dove, scored deep by their rivers, which constitute a landscape of outstanding natural beauty. The dales are complimented by the surrounding smooth green hills chequered by walls of white limestone.

The riverside path on the Derbyshire bank of the Dove continues south from Beresford Dale into Wolfscote Dale. This is a beautiful and spectacular part of Dovedale, with the river flowing beneath Drabbers Tor and the prominently pointed white pinnacles of Peaseland Rocks. Here, the main dale is joined by narrower Biggin Dale.
